Un ethere^[1] es un composito organic que ha un gruppo etheric. Un gruppo etheric consiste de un atomo de oxygeno connectite a duo gruppos organic (alkylic o arylic). Etheres ha le formula general R-O-R' ubi R e R' representa le gruppos alkylic o arylic. Le termino "ethere" es sovente usate pro le ethere diethylic (CH₃–CH₂–O–CH₂–CH₃), un del etheres le plus simple e le plus importante.
