Secundo un publication de Virologica Sinica, iste coronavirus, proxime del HKU4-CoV (en) infectante vespertiliones ma alsi pangolines, haberea un sito de clivaje per furina. Iste sito permitte al SARS-CoV-2 de infectar humanes (COVID-19) ma non es presente in altere Sarbecovirus (fr) cognite, alimentante le hypothese de un experientia e un fuga de laboratorio. Secundo autores del communication, le presentia de un tal sito in TyRo-CoV-162275, suggere que le SARS-CoV-2 pote esser un virus natural transmittite per vespertiliones.[2][3]
