Eleanor Margaret Burbidge (nate con le supernomine Peachey; Davenport, Greater Manchester, Anglaterra, 12 de augusto 1919 - San Francisco, California, 5 de april 2020) FRS era un astrophysico. Illa es cognoscite pro su recerca original e teneva multe positiones educational, includente Director del Royal Greenwich Observatory. Un centenario, illa celebrava su 100e die natal in 2019.

In su carriera illa travaliava al University of London Observatory, Yerkes Observatory del University of Chicago, Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, Anglaterra, le California Institute of Technology, e 1979 - 1988 illa era le prime director del Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences al University of California San Diego, ubi illa travaliava desde 1962.[1][2]

In 2003 Burbidge era addite al Sala de Fama del Women's Museum of California in honor de su carriera e obra.[3]

Illa moriva le 5 de april 2020 de complicationes post un cadita.[4]
