Allan Stein es un roman de Matthew Stadler publicate in 1999.[1] Illo recipeva le Premio litterari Lambda de fiction gay e le premio Fundation Richard e Hilda Rosenthal del Academia Statunitense del Artes e le Litteras.[2] Le personage Allan Stein del romance es basate super un personage historic real, nepote del scriptor Gertrude Stein e modello de un portrait pictate per Pablo Picasso in 1906, quando Allan habeva 11 annos.

Le roman seque le viage a Paris de un juvene maestro de schola, congedate del travalio a causa del false accusation de haber seducite un alumno, a fin de discoperir le historia de Allan Stein, le affligite nepote del scriptor Gertrude Stein.

Depost haber adoptate un nomine false -illo de su melio amico, Herbert-, le protagonista utilisa su nove identitate pro approximar se al filio de su hospites, un adolescente melancholic de 15 annos appellate Stéphane, super le qual ille projecta un souvenir idealisate de su infantia, quando ille visitava Francia con su matre al etate de 16 annos.

Depost duo septimanas, Stéphane deveni su amante e ambes viagia insimul verso le sud de Francia. Quando Stéphane discoperi que su amico le ha mentite super le nomine, ille decide retornar presso su parentes.
